Double Deep Pallet Racking
A variation on traditional racking formats, double deep pallet racking does exactly what it says on the tin. A double deep configuration provides additional storage density by layering pallets two deep, with access available from the same aisle. Pallets are then added and removed by specialist forklifts with extending forks or side forks.
Double deep pallet racking is an ideal upgrade for multiple pallet quantities of a single product, and allows for efficient retrieval on a last in, first out (LIFO) basis. Often featured in ‘high throughput’ operations, double deep pallet racking is extremely cost effective, and has the potential to significantly increase productivity with an effective stock management system.
Double deep pallet racking makes effective use of space by limiting the number of aisles necessary for retrieval. The forklift operator places the back pallet into the system first, and then places another pallet in front of it, maximising the density of pallet storage. This is extremely well-suited to high throughput organisations, and is increasingly popular in automated installations.
